As some of you might have guessed, Harry Potter is super important to a lot of us at Rogues Portal. (Even if we watched the movies for a the first time as an adult!) We’re currently reading all seven books as part of our monthly Book Club, have written about our Hogwarts houses and crushes, and even had kids stop by to review Harry Potter and the Cursed Child!

One of the coolest spells in Harry Potter is the Patronus Charm. The charm repels dementors, who are physical manifestations of depression – so the charm is the opposite of that. Quite literally, a representation of the happiest you’ve ever been.

So, to celebrate Harry’s 37th birthday, some of us thought we’d share our patronuses with you! Let us know what yours is on Twitter!

My Patronus is apparently unusual. The Great Grey Owl. The Great Grey Owl is a noble and mighty bird of prey. It does many owlish things like drink too much coffee (which explains the wide-eyed look), and suffer from the resulting insomnia, much like myself. As a patronus it does the same things with the extra bonus of being able to repel dementors with it’s charming good looks and intimidating eyes. All with a cup of coffee in hand. Wing. Whatever. – Josh

According to my Pottermore survey, my patronus is a Nebelung Cat. The Pottermore survey’s a little lackluster in that it tells you absolutely nada about it! So I had to take matters into my own hands.

The Nebelung looks a lot like my Maine Coon, Tommen. So I’m going to assume this is a sign that my cats have to do with my happiest memory. (Which is true, probably.) I have also decided, in my infinite wisdom, that my Patronus chases dementors away by batting them around like Tommen’s most beloved BB8 toy. And also by biting. (Tommen, please only bite dementors – please.) – Reed

According to the Pottermore quiz, my patronus is a wildcat, which… yeah, that’s accurate. My cat acts as my emotional support animal and my familiar, and she’s absolutely the fiercest little babe I know. Wildcats are powerful, sneaky, and capable of being very sweet or very destructive depending on the needs of the situation. Given that my greatest protection from my inner demons is my cat, and dementors feed on all the things that keep you awake at night and break your heart, I wouldn’t trust anything else to fight them off. – Samantha
