There was never just one.

An ominous new message from Scott Cawthon, creator of the hugely successful Five Nights at Freddy’s horror games.

As per usual the reveal came via a cryptic screen on Scott Games. It tells us next to nothing about the next game but the community is already excited and theorizing what this game will bring us.

Over the past few months Cawthon has been teasing fans with a collection of letter teasers. Two Reddit users, Ender2_ComiX and shanedrgn worked together and discovered that the letters spell out ‘sister location’ and found a PhotoShop layer in the previous image that read ‘there was never just one’.

In confirmation to the discovery, Scott uploaded the teaser that is now the main page of his website. Fans already expect the animatronics in the background to be the main character and that the next game will be a spin-off instead of a direct sequel. It isn’t too farfetched an idea since towards the end of Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 the player is informed of an incident at a sister location involving an incident with the spring lock suits.

Could the new game be an embellishment of that existing arc?

Cawthon took to Steam to describe his upcoming game as ‘definitely different’ with a ‘lot of surprises’ for long time fans.

Cawthon has a habit of dropping his game news sporadically so stay tuned to Rogues Portal for all upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s news!

I read, I write, I play videogames, Ghostbusters is my favourite thing in the known universe, but quasars come in at a close second. I've been known to cry at the drop of a hat over happy and sad things alike. I've also been known to fly into a rage if things don't go my way, leading to many a fight in high school and breaking someone's nose on the TTC one time. I'm an anxious introvert but also a loud-mouthed bad influence. Especially on my cat. He learned it from watching me, okay!
