Despite the Klingon’s best efforts, Tribbles have returned to our quadrant of space.

These “non-breeding” interactive Tribbles are said to be part of Section K-7, a secret organization attempting to find undercover Klingons amongst Starfleet personnel. For those unfamiliar with these pesky-yet-adorable creatures, a Tribble will either scream or purr depending on who is holding it–and Tribbles and Klingons are notorious for not getting along. In fact, they are said to have been wiped out by the Klingons in the “Great Tribble Hunt.” Controlled through your PADD (also known as an app called Section K-7 on your smartphone), the Tribbles can be placed in three modes:

At Ease: Your Tribble is not searching for Klingons. It will trill to acknowledge you when you interact with it. It will also trill on its own without being picked up because, well, it’s a Tribble. When left alone, your Tribble will continue to trill, but will do so less frequently to avoid irritating its human companion.

On Duty: Your Tribble will begin actively seeking Klingon agents. Pass it around to determine who is an ally and who is an enemy among us. It will trill when it meets a friend, but it will scream if it detects a Klingon!

Watchdog: If you must leave personal items unattended, set your Tribble on top of the object that you wish to protect. If a Klingon agent attempts to retrieve that object, your Tribble will alert you with a scream!

These modes can be selected through the app, which is available on both the Google Play and App Store. The Tribbles connect through the app via Bluetooth, though they require AAA batteries to run themselves; nothing has been said yet about their eating habits. Hopefully, when Rogues Portal acquires their own, we won’t get suddenly overwhelmed by a horde of Tribbles.

The Star Trek Interactive Tribbles are expected to ship out early 2020. More information about the Science Division and adopting one of these Tribbles can be found here.

Created by the Science Division (founded by Kayleigha and Jay, a wife and husband team), the Tribbles are priced at $59.99 USD each and are available for pre-order now through their website.
