The Wayward Sisters Anthology puts non-cishet men at the forefront of writing horror comics with its first-ever publication through TO Comix Press. From the anthology’s website: “From mermaids hunted for their meat to a ghastly beauty pageant, Wayward Sisters celebrates lady and non-binary monsters who are indelicate, impolite, and irrepressible. Inside you’ll find tales of undead motivational speakers, vengeance demons compelled to hunt family, and a gentle T. Rex who just wants to be loved. This collection of full-colour comics stars thirty-eight intersectional creators who identify as women or gender-nonconforming.”

How did the Wayward Sisters Anthology become a reality? According to lead editor Allison O’Toole, the idea spawned during a discussion with M. Blankier some years ago: “We were both bored by monster stories where women are only victims, romantic interests, or sexy monster hunters. … It was time for us to bring a project to life where we could share the monster stories we’d always wanted to read.”

Hear, hear! There aren’t nearly enough lady monsters in the world, and there are close to zero gender-nonconforming ones. This anthology seeks to change that, but to do so, the creators need the funding to turn an idea into a printed reality. TO Comix Press is looking to raise just over $14k for publication; 40% goes to creators, 36% to printing, 12% to shipping, 9% to Kickstarter fees, and 3% to rewards costs.
