Fairy TailsHave you ever thought about what classic fairy tales would be like with cat loving ladies and gents instead of princesses and princes? Yasmine Surovec did! And now her web comic Cat vs Human has expanded into its third anthology: Fairy Tails!

Cat vs Human: Fairy Tails is a collection of fairy tales for cat lovers. Fabled characters and fairy princesses are replaced with cat ladies and their cats! Each comic puts a contemporary spin on classic stories, while showing the comedic take on cats and their people that Surovec has enraptured the internet with.

The whole point of Cat vs Human: Fairy Tails is to tell fairy tales with a feline twist. The classic tales featured include The Princess and the Pea, The Little Mermaid, Rapunzel, and more, and they’re all quick, altered vignettes. They’re whimsical, silly, and not trying to be anything besides cute. Cat lovers will agree with everything shown. Are cats worth making a deal with a sea witch? Yes. Can you get mad at a cat for sleeping in your bed? Absolutely not. Could a cat be your one true love? I think we all know the answer to that!

The art of Fairy Tails is exactly like the web comic and it’s as charming as ever. Surovec’s style is cutesy, simplistic, and colourful. It doesn’t have a lot of details but the cartoon people are expressive and almost as cute as their feline counterpoints. The art is great for kids as well. They could follow the fairy tales without the words or follow along and learn from the neatly lettered, straightforward text.

The Verdict
Check it out!
Colourful, fun, and funny, Cat vs Human comics are adorable for any fairy tale/cat lover. Who could resist the little dot eyes or narratives that always revolve around cats? Cats, people!

I read, I write, I play videogames, Ghostbusters is my favourite thing in the known universe, but quasars come in at a close second. I've been known to cry at the drop of a hat over happy and sad things alike. I've also been known to fly into a rage if things don't go my way, leading to many a fight in high school and breaking someone's nose on the TTC one time. I'm an anxious introvert but also a loud-mouthed bad influence. Especially on my cat. He learned it from watching me, okay!
