If you’ve been eagerly following Scott Cawthon’s website for news of his newest jump-scare game Sister Location, you may have come upon a shocking bit of information. Red letters set against a black background read: Cancelled. Due to leaks.

Cawthon keeps his games and the information he releases about them as ambiguous as possible. The information concerning Sister Location is coming thick and fast. Some believed the announcement to be genuine. Maybe he really was pulling it.

Then there were the people that assumed it was a promotion for the game and began doing what they do best: peeling back layers from images and delving into the code to discover what Cawthon is trying to tell us. When the image from his site was brightened, it shows that it is definitely a promotion as it reveals a mock news article.

Sister Location

Its opening paragraph states:

“In other news: the grand opening of Circus Baby’s Pizza World has apparently been cancelled due to reported gas leaks in the building. Sources close to the establishment question the report, saying that strange activity around the area at night suggest something else is to blame.”

Along with the Steam page for the game, this newest hint is setting the upcoming game in Circus Baby’s Pizza World. The description on the Steam page also gives players a glimpse of what to expect from the game play as it states the need for a late-night technician. Requirements for the job include:

“[Must] enjoy cramped spaces and be comfortable around active machinery.”

It also warns that the establishment will not be held liable for death or dismemberment. Lovely.

Sister Location is due to drop on Steam this coming October. Cawthon has been known to release games early though, so a solid release date is anyone’s guess at this point.

I read, I write, I play videogames, Ghostbusters is my favourite thing in the known universe, but quasars come in at a close second. I've been known to cry at the drop of a hat over happy and sad things alike. I've also been known to fly into a rage if things don't go my way, leading to many a fight in high school and breaking someone's nose on the TTC one time. I'm an anxious introvert but also a loud-mouthed bad influence. Especially on my cat. He learned it from watching me, okay!
