Destiny 2 has been confirmed and scheduled for late 2017. Today, the Destiny Dev Team launched the timeline for the remaining scheduled releases for Destiny 1. While the announcement promised full details this coming Wednesday, 03/08/17, the Dev Team offered answers to a few burning questions from the game’s fanbase.
From the official announcement:
- Destiny 1 power, possessions, and Eververse-related items and currency will not carry forward. They will, however, remain accessible to you in Destiny 1
- We know that, just like us, you have grown fond of the Guardians you’ve created, so we do plan to preserve your character personalization.
The last large-scale event for Destiny 1 will be The Age of Triumph, expected to launch late March 2017. The event will be showcased via livestreams, something Bungie has taken to doing to show off new features as well as engage players with live PvP against the creators. Schedule of events is as follows:
- 03/08/17 – Age of Triumph reveal
- 03/15/17 – Age of Triumph weekly rituals
- 03/22/17 – Age of Triumph sandbox updates
It is unclear at this time whether or not The Age of Triumph will be launched on any of these dates. Presumably, Bungie will continue their announcements and developments with the weekly blog entries. While this event will mark the winding down of the first three years of Destiny, the creators promise that players will be given ways to commemorate and honor all their hard work.
