You may not know it but wrestling and comics go together like chicken and waffles. Seriously, not only are there comics about wrestling (like Joe Keatinge’s Ringside) but a ton of creators (like Jason Latour and Scott Synder) love the pre-determined-but-definitely-not-fake sport. Going to a comic convention these days is almost like attending a secret wrestling convention. If you love both wrestling and comics, From Parts Unknown is a Kickstarter I want to tell you about.
From Parts Unknown is a Kickstarter project from G. Brett Williams, a Chicago-based filmmaker and comic creator and Lauren Sankovitch, a former Marvel editor and current managing editor for Team Milkfed Criminal Masterminds. It’s described as a narrative graphic novel about the sport of wrestling and features contributors from both the squared circle and the panelled page, brother. Some of the fine folks lending their talents to this project include:
- The aforementioned Joe Keatinge (also of Shutter fame)
- Phil Hester
- Jason Latour
- Jenn Woodall
- The Soska Sisters (the directors of See No Evil 2 starring WWE wrestler Kane)
- Christopher Daniels (former TNA superstar and current Ring of Honor superstar, aka A REAL-LIFE WRESTLER)
Check out the official Kickstarter page (at least the pitch/promo video) for more information including the various perks for different donation levels. If you happen to be the one lucky people that donates enough for the From Parts Unknown title belt, definitely tweet @RoguesPortal and you’ll officially be our hero.
