There are just some series that you get extra excited for when a new issue comes out, like Old Man Hawkeye #4, for example. Last issue our glorious long-haired Hawkeye took us to Arcade’s Murderworld, Nevada, where he confronted the big guy, Atlas. This week we move on from the dark carnival to Doombot Factory, Kree Haven, where Abe Jenkins (aka Beetle/Mach-X) has been biding his time.

We begin by following Abe throughout his week—working long hours and drinking himself to sleep, clearly haunted by events in his past. So, what breaks this monotonous routine? Hawkeye, of course, ready to collect his due. Hawkeye though, being the respectful archer he is, gives Abe time to suit up (he even helps him) before they battle it out. Other things are at work here in Old Man Hawkeye #4 too, like Bullseye being hot on Hawkeye’s trail with the venom symbiote not far behind.

Old Man Hawkeye #4 continues what has been a perfect read, both in terms of writing and art. Ethan Sacks knows how to write a fast-paced story with just the right amount of emotional depth—the kind that leaves you haunted long after you finish it. The art is both realistic and wasteland-otherworldly, and the color choices—from the landscapes to the character designs—are just right.

Verdict: Buy it.

In Old Man Hawkeye #4, Clint’s revenge-fueled mission takes him to Doombot Factory, Kree Haven, to visit Abe Jenkins. And, with solid writing and gorgeous art, the creative team continues to give readers a high-energy, heartfelt story.
