There’s a front-runner in the race to play a young Han Solo!

After some intensive (and impressive) screen tests, Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) is currently out-pacing Jack Reynor and Taron Egerton for the scruffy rogue who shot first.

The Han Solo spin-off is set to be direction by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie), and will be written by Lawrence Kasdan and son Jon Kasdan. The film is going to focus on Han Solo in his early days and adventures. Chewbacca’s probably in there somewhere as well! Aside from this, the film is being kept top-secret.

The solo Han Solo film is set to hit theatres in May or 2018.
