DC has yet to reveal their next animated feature officially but the British Board of Film Classification has outed that Justice League Dark is in the works. How did the British Board of Film Classification come upon this information? By rating an 8-minute featurette that’s going to be on The Killing Joke blu-ray.
There’s been a Justice League Dark live-action in the works since 2012. It’s unlikely that this is the same project re-worked for animation. Though there has been no news on the official state of the live-action adaption, at least anti-hero and all-round wanker John Constantine, with his merry back of magical heroes and outcasts, will get some action in movie form.
Justice League Dark is a collection of DC heroes who are supernatural rather than ‘traditionally’ super that were written into a comic book series as part of DC’s push to organize and implant its Vertigo characters into its main universe.
Guillermo del Toro was attached to the live-action Justice League Dark until last year and had hinted that his main characters would include John Constantine, Zatanna, Zatara, Swamp Thing, Deadman, The Demon, and The Spectre. At this point in time, it remains to be seen if this line-up is the main lineup of the animated feature.
