Fan Expo, Toronto Comic-Con, Anime North, EGLX and now International Fan Festival (IFF). The latest event coming to Toronto is being organized by AMCGN International Fan Festival Ltd. X Anime Revolution Events Inc and taking place April 19th-21st at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
This event is about celebrating anime and Japanese culture and the fans behind that. Anime and Japanese culture is a bit broad, so they decide to focus on anime, music, comics, games, and novels. The guest list includes voice actress and singer Megumi Nakajima (Ranka Lee in Macross Frontier, Megumi Aino/Cure Lovely in Happiness Charge Precure!, Shiranai Kimochi in ED of Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits) singer Konomi Suzuki (This game– OP of No Game No Life, CHOIR JAIL– OP of Dusk Maiden of Amnesia) voice actor Noriko Shitaya (Fate franchise Sakura Mato, Naruto franchise Moegi Kazamatsuri) Voice actor and Youtuber Sungwon Cho (ProZD) DJ Kazu, and Canada’s own actor and voice actor Sugar Lyn Beard (Rini– Sailor Moon, Wish Bear– Care Bears movie, Becky Sharpe/Hazard– The Flash).
Some of the main attractions IFF Toronto has include, a concert (featuring Megumi Nakajima, Konomi Suzuki, and DJ Kazu) a special screening of Fate/stay night [Heaven’s Feel] II. lost butterfly (exclusive gifts from Aniplex of America, available for the audience members) and a guest meet & greet with ProZD,
Sugar Lyn Beard, Aaron Dismuke, J Stryker, Twinfools & Nova (Fighting Dreamers Production).
Other notable events at the event include an AMV contest where people put their creativity and video editing skills to the test in making an anime music video. Anime Speedtune, where you can test your knowledge or ani-songs by trying to recognize them with only a few notes. A cosplay contest. IFF Idol where you can put your singing talents to test against others in front of a live audience. J-Pop dance cover competition to show off your dance capabilities in front of a live audience. The first ever fanart contest where they want you to draw the mascots Shiro and Rona in some new styles. This year’s contest focuses on spring, festival, and Japanese elements. There is also concerts done by Konomi Suzuki and Megumi Nakajima.
With the event quickly approaching, tickets are limited. There are deluxe fan tickets ($75) Sponsor fan ($120) Gold Fan ($250) and higher tiers with limited quantities.
