At the beginning of January the Funko team bought out tonnes of new Funko’s for us at the London Toy Fair and during the February month they bought revealed even more new lines at the New York Toy Fair! Toy Fair 2017 opened its doors to thousands of registered global play professionals to explore a record-breaking 443,000 net square feet of exhibit space filled with hundreds of thousands of toys, games, and youth entertainment products. So what previews did Funko have to show us? Let’s find out!
Spiderman: Homecoming
With the new Spiderman film coming out the characters were obviously going to get the Funko Pop treatment! There are 5 Pops to collect thus far in the series and it wouldn’t surprise me if more Funkos will come out closer to the films release. Characters include Peter Parker, Vulture, Spider-Man, Spider-Man (homemade suit) and Tony Stark. They will be released in April.
Five Nights at Freddy’s Waves 2 and 3
Five Nights at Freddy’s has proven to be a very popular game and of course Funko turned these scary looking creatures into Funko Pops, however they have proven so popular that Funko is on its third wave and they’ve saved the scariest till last!! There are 8 Funko’s to collect all together, 4 in the second wave and 4 in the third. The second wave includes the characters Nightmare Foxy, Nightmare Chica, Nightmare Bonnie and Cupcake, while the third wave has Baby, Ballora, Funtime Freddy and Funtime Foxy. No release date as of yet.
The Dark Tower
With a live adaption of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower is making its way to the cinemas this summer, Funko has set the merchandising ball rolling with two pops from the series and quite possibly more to come. If you’re a Funko collector and an avid Stephen King fan you can now add The Gunslinger and the Man in Black Funko to your collection. No release date as of yet.
Gravity Falls
Disney’s Gravity Falls is finally getting the Funko Pop treatment! There are six Funko’s to collect in the wave with Dipper’s chase variant being a 1-in-6 rarity as well as Bill Cipher chase variant being a 1-in-6 rarity! Characters include Dipper Pines, Mabel Pines, Grunkle Stan, and Bill Cipher. The series will be coming out in May.
Westworld
One of the biggest shows of 2016 is finally getting it’s own Pop series! These are a must-have for the die hard Westworld fan! There are seven Funko’s to collect and the characters include Dr. Robert Ford, Dolores, Man in Black, Bernard, Maeve, Young Ford and Teddy. No release date as of yet.
Trollhunters
Funko has been named master toy partner for Trollhunters, the Netflix Original series from Dreamworks Animation. The licensing agreement will help bring Trollhunters, created by Guillermo del Toro, to life with the introduction of a vast assortment of products that will be available at mass retail and specialty stores nationwide.’ There are 6 characters to collect which include Jim and Gnome, Toby and Gnome, Claire, Aargh, Blinky and Bular.
Despicable Me 3
The very popular franchise is back for it’s third film and Funko has jumped at the chance to showcase the characters with new looks! There are five Pops in the series so far but expect more in the future, especially closer to the films release. Characters include Gru, Tourist Dave, Tourist Jerry, Kyle and Fluffy.
Wonder Woman
Being one of the most highly anticipated films 2017, Funko have released 3 pops to coincide with the new Wonder Woman film! I won’t be surprised if there will be more Funko Pops to follow. The three characters are Wonder Woman, Steve Trevor, and Hippolyta.
