In Dry County #2, Lou Rossi’s life looks like it’s on its way to improvement. That is, until his new girlfriend gets kidnapped. Now, he’s bent on finding out how he can save her—but he can’t ask for police help or it’s curtains for her. He tries everything from shaking down her ex-boyfriend to revisiting her old haunts, but it doesn’t seem like he’s any closer. Plus, some moron with a red van keeps trying to run him over. What does this all have to do with Janet’s past?

I said in my review for the first issue in this series that the story was clever and charming, but not a whole lot really happened by the time you reach the end. This issue is almost the opposite. A lot happens—and very early I might add—but the enjoyable parts from the last issue are largely absent. There was also a time or two that I had to go back and refresh my memory as to who a character was.

The artwork stays consistent with the previous issue. There’s some creativity with the panel layouts. I also like that we’re keeping the diary-style narration, and it captures the overall 80s Miami vibe.

Verdict: Wait and see.

I know I said this last time, but at this point, with Dry County #2, I think this would read better as a trade rather than issue-by-issue.
