If you’re like me, you’ve been waiting patiently (and anxiously) for Marvel to finally announce who will be helming the lead role of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel. It’s been awhile since they’ve announced their Phase 3 plans and characters such as Black Panther and Doctor Strange, have slowly been brought into focus. We’re on the road for gearing up the next Avengers event, Avengers: Infinity War. After Captain Marvel was announced as part of Phase 3, everyone came out with their choices for this amazing woman. Some of these choices included actresses Emily Blunt and Katee Sackhoff. It seems we’re finally getting word on who our hero might be and it might delight some and shock others.

News broke the other day that Brie Larson is in talks to play Captain Marvel. Now, these are just early talks, but these early talks can lead to something pretty spectacular. I don’t know about you, but I’m really pumped and excited to see Larson take on the role of Danvers for a number of reasons.

_87330366_room-brie-apBrie has been my lady crush for sometime now so I’ve followed her career for awhile. She has proven herself to be a majorly gifted actress since she first started. She’s done a wide range of movies spreading from indie movies (Short Term 12), comedy (21 Jump Street), television (United States of Tara) and has even starred in a love comic book adaption and completely slayed (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World). Brie’s won an Oscar (yes guys, an Oscar) for her role as ‘Ma’ in Room. She has quite the talent and range. There’s no doubt in my mind that she can bring so much to Captain Marvel. I’m quite excited to see her resume expand with this role and see what she does with it, if she takes it on.

There has been another debate brewing throughout social media, but this one happens to be about Brie’s age. She’s 26 years old now, but people thought an older actress would have been suited. However this comes to be, it’d be amazing to even see a Captain Marvel on screen. A woman will breath life into one of the greatest superheroes and I welcome whoever it will be.

Other Captain Marvel news has also come out of hiding. Marvel’s tapping in some amazing female directors to helm the film. Two of these directors include: Jennifer Kent from the horror movie, The Babadook and Niki Caro, who has directed Whale Rider and McFarland, USA.

What do you guys think of the Captain Marvel casting? Do you think Brie is the perfect choice? Or would you have wanted to see someone else in the role?
