Ahhh, love. What would we ever do without it? In the realm of comics, there have been a lot of incredible queer couples. Some good, some bad, but all of them are just fantastic. It’s incredibly important to have yourself reflected into comics. Diversity in all areas of comics are needed and creators in mainstream and indie comics have been doing an incredible job in creating fantastic characters that you can relate to.
Representation for any and all love is important. So… I’d like to share with you guys some of my personal favorite queer couples in comics. Who knows, I might give you guys more in the future. *wink wink* *nudge nudge* *giggle*

Wiccan and Hulkling migrated into our hearts within their run in Young Avengers and haven’t stopped making us smile. The story between the Wiccan, the human mutant and son of Scarlet Witch and Hulkling, a Kree/Skrull hybrid, captured the wonderful side of being super cute and in love, while battling a lot of different obstacles in the process.
Alysia Yeoh & Jo (Batgirl)

Comics to Read: Batgirl V.1
Alysia and Jo. I can talk forever how cute these two are, but I will spare you a full article about it. In the new Batgirl of Burnside comics by Fletcher, Stewart and Tarr, Alysia gets married to her girlfriend Jo, but a little bit of complication gets in the way when Jo is caught up in some illegal activities with villain, Velvet Tiger. After that though, the two share a BEAUTIFUL pastel ceremony and are pronounced spouses for life. It’s a lovely and important piece of comic history as well because it’s the first trans wedding to ever hit comics.

Princess Amira & Sadie (Princess Princess Ever After, Oni Press)
Names: Princess Amira and Sadie
Created by: Katie O’ Neill

Comics to Read: Princess Princess Ever After
If you haven’t heard about Princess Princess Ever After, please correct all of your mistakes and read it immediately. This comic centres around Princess Amira and Princess Sadie, two very different princesses, but man, are they the BEST team around. Princess Amira doesn’t necessarily want to fall into the “princess” standards of what’s meant for her. Princess Sadie needs to conquer her fears and take her rightful place. Again, two very different princesses, but one very sweet ending.
Apollo & Midnighter (Midnighter, DC)
Names: Lucas Trent (Midnighter) & Apollo
Created by: Warren Ellis (W) & Bryan Hitch (A)
Series: The Authority, Stormwatch, Midnighter
Comics to Read: Midnighter, Midnighter and Apollo (2016)
A couple who literally has fought through hell and back for each other. Midnighter and Apollo are/were members of the superhero team, The Authority. Midnighter uses his enhanced abilities to basically be the Anti-Batman and kill people cause… why not. Apollo is a “sun king” and most known for being one of the first out characters in comics. The fantastic relationship between the men are… just too lovely to ignore. The recent rebirth of their story pins Midnighter and Apollo in their relationship right after the Rebirth of Midnighters title. I can’t express to you how amazing their relationship is, you’ll have to read it yourself.

Alison & Lisa (Sunstone, Top Cow Productions & Image Comics)
Names: Allison “Ally” Carter & Lisa Williams
Created by: Stjepan Šejić
Series: Sunstone
Comics to Read: Sunstone V.1
Want a fantastic take on queer BDSM culture? Turn immediately to Sunstone and don’t look back. Sunstone continues to be both a fantastic look into the world of BDSM and a love story that is so realistic that makes you crave a love like theirs. Lisa and Allison both come to the scene looking for the opposite of what each other wants. Lisa looks for someone to dominate her while Ally looks for someone to submit to her. Both ladies discover new things about themselves, their sexualities and what they like, but jealousy, complications and real life interlock causing a bit of friction, but still a whole lot of fun.
Inanna & Baal (Wicked and Divine, Image)
Names: Baal (formally, Valentine Campbell) and Inanna (formally, Zahid)
Created by: Kieron Gillen & Jamie McKelvie
Series: The Wicked + The Divine
Comics to Read: The Wicked + The Divine V.1
The comic couple we wish we could see more of. The Wicked + The Divine has many amazing couples, but Inanna and Baal’s story is one that will probably last forever. Before the tragedy, Inanna and Baal had a relationship that turned south when Baal cheated on him with Luci. The two kept strong feelings for each other, but it was almost too late for them to actually share another relationship. I don’t wanna spoil it, but it’s really sad….
Jory & Hunter (The Backstagers, Boom!)
Names: Jory and Hunter
Created by: James Tynion IV and Rian Sygh
Series: The Backstagers
Comics to Read: The Backstagers #1-7
If you love theater life, you’re gonna love The Backstagers. Jory transferred to an all-boys school and in his efforts to make an effort to mix and mingle, he joins theater club. However, life isn’t as intriguing onstage, but backstage it’s where it’s at. Jory is joined by The Backstagers, the stage crew of the theater department. He wonders headfirst into their strange, but magical world and doesn’t think about looking back. Every character in The Backstagers is lovely, but Jory and Hunter’s relationship has to be the loveliest thing ever. It’s a slow build that really guarantees the payoff and just fills your heart with joy as much as the comic does.
