There is always that one Funko Pop that always catches your eye even though you don’t really have much clue about the character itself. The character means nothing to you but you know you need it for whatever reason. Swamp Thing is that Funko Pop.
The Swamp Thing is a fictional character in the DC Comics Universe. He is a humanoid/plant elemental creature, created by the minds of artist Berni Wrightson and writer Len Wein. Swamp Thing is a humanoid mass of vegetable matter (or gunk) who fights to protect his home, the environment as well as humanity from bizarre supernatural and terror threats. The character popularity increased during the 1980s where he inspired two theatrical films, a live-action television series and a five-part animated series!
The Funko Pop is an Underground Toys Exclusive (just like my Hatsune Miku from last week’s Funko Friday) and is called a flocked version which means it’s limited to one manufacturer. Of course there are two versions to Swamp Think Funko Pop; you have the original which is a dark swamp green and the other is the one I have which is THE FLUFFY ONE!!! It feels like velvet although I’m not too sure if that’s the material used. The green shade is very vibrant compared to the original which looks slightly grim in comparison. It’s stable when stood up which is always a plus and of course due to the material there are no scratches of any kind (winning). It also has articulation with it’s head which you can turn left and right. His facial expression is one grimace and I love the structure of his brow too, very menacing!
Of course there are more Funko Pops with this series. There are seven to collect including two versions of Swamp Thing and quite possibly more versions of the other Funko Pops you can collect. The other Funko Pops include:
- The Joker (old school Jack Nicholson style)
- Wonder Woman
To be honest I haven’t fancied many of the superhereos Funko Pops except for Deadpool (coming soon) and Nightwing. I love my fluffy little Funko Pop!
