It's Jeff: Jeff Week #1

The shark, the myth, the legend returns for another round of dialogue-light funnies in It’s Jeff: Jeff Week #1.

Jeff Week is the second printed edition of It’s Jeff, collecting more of the Marvel Unlimited Infinity Comics series featuring everybody’s favorite baby land shark. Jeff has been rising in popularity since his introduction in writer Kelly Thompson’s West Coast Avengers (2019), and especially after his inclusion in the popular hero shooter Marvel Rivals, so it only makes sense to proliferate him in all media.

As with the last edition of It’s Jeff, there’s no real overarching plot or narrative to speak of in the brief segments that make up Jeff Week. These stories only run for a few pages each, and mostly without any dialogue at that — perfect for kids and early readers. Jeff, of course, cannot talk, so why would his comics be wordy and dense?

It’s Jeff: Jeff Week #1 features contributions from the aforementioned Thompson (with Gurihiru) and Gustavo Duarte, and although their styles are not necessarily similar, they’re united in their playful, colorful tone. Gurihiru’s manga-forward style specifically lends itself well to Jeff, really leaning into the inherent cuteness of the character that makes you wonder why Marvel isn’t already selling Jeff plushies. Duarte’s art, on the other hand, is more Western in its presentation and almost reminiscent of 2000s webcomics, but that aesthetic also works very well for Jeff. Basically, it’s hard to mess him up.

If you’re not one for cutesy, fluffy comics with no real plot to speak of, then It’s Jeff: Jeff Week #1 is probably not for you. But if you are into precisely that, then this might be a must-buy.
