Podcast:
The Dragonlance Canticle

Topic:
Dragonlance

Hosts:
Trampas Whiteman, Tristan Zimmerman, Weldon Chen, Chuck Martinell

Why you should listen:
If you’re a fan of Dragonlance, this is one of the few active pieces of media that is keeping the series alive. With a core group of fanatics in ages ranging from their twenties to much older, this podcast is filled with fun conversations on the range of issues with Dragonlance. Of course the evergreen topic that is always coming up is when will Wizards of the Coast release more Dragonlance content, but it is never done in a resentful manner. The guys are usually positive about Dragonlance. The real fun is when they dig hardcore into specific topics that only the truest fans would know and either love or hate. The perfect example is that a couple of the most recent podcasts were about the Dragon Overlords. These were characters that caused a dip in fandom in the 1990s and only the most dedicated fans would care about. This works because, though never explicitly stated one of the purposes of the Canticle is to keep Dragonlance alive for its fans.

Recommended first episode:
Episode 80, “Dragonlance in D&D5 (Part 1)”. I recommend this because it’s a good gaming episode. For those who may not necessarily be interested in the novels, but like the idea of using Dragonlance as a campaign setting this is perfect. It gives a good introduction and story hooks that could be used for a new campaign. The passion that the hosts have really comes through, and it will make you want to start your own campaign.
