Review by Michael Farris, Jr.

Old Man Logan needs some help decrypting a flash drive that could bring down Wilson Fisk, so where better to turn than the alcoholic former Fisk biographer Sarah Dewey? Dewey, for her part, isn’t sober enough to point a gun at Logan—let alone hold her keys—so she decides to help him and get him in touch with a former hacktivist friend. However, the plan gets a little complicated when Bullseye shows up with orders to get the flash drive back into the hands of Fisk.

The Old Man Logan story line only seems to get better with each issue that comes out. This issue is paced extremely well in that it gives us a nice pause to relax from the conclusion of the previous issue by getting us introduced to Sarah Dewey’s character before plunging us into an all-out brawl between Logan and Bullseye in a posh organic foods store. If a fight like that broke out at Whole Foods while I was there, it would be hard for me to leave.

And despite the progression of the story in Old Man Logan #37, we’re only left with more questions. We still don’t know what’s on the flash drive, for one thing (still holding out for Russian hookers), and now we’re left wondering why Fisk demands that Sarah Dewey remains unharmed. What makes her so important to him? But this type of mystery keeps you engaged in the story rather than enraged at the lack of details.

The artwork in Old Man Logan #37  is unapologetically violent, but not overtly so. I also particularly liked how the dialogue that happened while the character speaking outside of the frame had the boxes matching their outfit so we could still tell who was saying what. Subtle yet creative way to keep the reader from getting confused.

Verdict: Buy it.

This run on Old Man Logan has been a fun ride and with Old Man Logan #37 it doesn’t show any signs of stopping. I’m eagerly looking forward to the conclusion of this storyline that may or may not be the end of Wilson Fisk…at least as New York City’s anti-vigilante mayor.
