Peyton Royce, Kairi Sane, Ember Moon, and Nikki Cross in a promotional photo for an NXT TakeOver women's championship match

Tonight is the night! For the first time in nearly twenty years, it’s WarGames, daddeh. Two championships are up for grabs. Nine men are going toe-to-toe in a two-ring steel cage match that certainly doesn’t seem reckless or ill-advised in any way. We’ll have a full recap after tonight’s Network-exclusive show.

First, here’s a little preview of what’s to come, and some Rogues Portal Wrestling predictions. Who do you think will come out on top tonight? What’s the over/under on Ariya Daivari’s Twitter prediction about Roddy Strong’s NWO-style turn coming true? Find out tonight on the WWE Network. The pre-show kicks off at 6:30 PM CST/7:30 EST, and TakeOver: WarGames begins at 7:00 PM CST/8:00 EST.

MATCHES AND PREDICTIONS

Kassius Ohno vs. Lars Sullivan

Unstoppable elbows meet immovable object. By his own admission, Kassius knows the undefeated Lars Sullivan is a bold choice for a big comeback match at TakeOver. Lars has run roughshod over the roster long enough. I won’t be surprised if he wins, but I’m giving this one to everybody’s hero, Kassius Ohno.

Aleister Black vs. The Velveteen Dream

The Velveteen Dream (you can’t really call him just the Dream, tonight of all nights) has been a tough competitor since his re-debut on NXT, but it’s going to take some dirty tricks to eke out a win in the face of Aleister Black’s devastating kicks. Aleister Black is winning this one by disqualification, but not before the Velveteen Dream makes Black say his name.

NXT Women’s Championship Match: Peyton Royce vs. Ember Moon vs. Nikki Cross vs. Kairi Sane

It’s great to have such a strong women’s roster that you can put four people in a match and genuinely believe any of them will come out with the belt on the other side. I think in the end this is coming down to Nikki Cross and Kairi Sane. I’m willing to bet the Pirate Princess Kairi Sane takes home the gold … so I can look forward to a rematch at NXT TakeOver Philadelphia.

NXT Championship Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas

Zelina Vega deserves to win this one. I wish NXT were big enough to handle another singles belt because I really want Andrade and Zelina to be the Lesnar and Heyman of NXT, except better and with more hurricanranas. That said, I think the Celtic Colossus (honestly he is so tall y’all) Drew McIntyre takes the win tonight.

WarGames: The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly) vs. Sanity vs. The Authors of Pain (with Roderick Strong)

With nothing on the line but pride — though pride means an awful lot, in wrestling — this match could go anybody’s way. The Undisputed Era have the weaselly underhandedness and speed to get away with a lot of nasty tricks tonight, but Sanity and the Authors of Pain have the size to double-down on the hurt this gruesome set-up can dish out. This is a tough one to call. If Roderick Strong embraces his destiny and leads the men of CFO to their final form as CFO$, I’m giving this match to the Undisputed Era. But if Ariya Daivari’s prophecy doesn’t come to pass, I think Sanity takes this one with a clean (if painful) win.

What do you expect on tonight’s show? Are you looking forward to the main event, or is the fatal four way what you’re tuning in for? Join me on Twitter @ckayfabe with the hashtag #RPWTakeOver and let me know what you think!
