Hello to my fellow geeky academics and their geeky papers!
Welcome to this news alert about academic papers applications currently available. I will try to make this news available monthly to make sure all my fellow academic nerds and geeks are aware of what is happening in the world of papers and presentations.
I am hoping this news can also inspire students about pathways available to them. You don’t have to study Shakespeare or James Joyce to be an academic anymore!
Onto the geeky papers:
First, who here loves Star Trek?
If you did not answer in the affirmative, the following application does not apply to you! Sherry Ginn and Michael Cornelius are calling for papers for Deep Space 9.
So, my nerdy academics itching to write something about DS9, please do apply to this collection of essays. However, please be aware that the papers will go through a process for acceptance. Furthermore, it is not always easy getting accepted as many people will apply and some essays may not be on topic. So, prepare your geeky papers and share them with the world.
What are they looking for: a proposal for a paper. So you don’t have to write the paper yet!
Deadline: 1 October 2019

Second, my name is Bond. James Bond.
How many of us would jump at the opportunity to review or critique the James Bond books or movies? I know that I would love that opportunity to critique the treatment of women or explore the history of the books.
I’m super curious about what could be written about James Bond and how we can further the discussion about the stories. Keep in mind that this call for papers and reviews is for the third volume! Of course, new perspectives and experiences are always cropping up. Also, I do believe the movies are a great source of expansion for the academic narrative. So, my fellow academics, go ahead and write about this subject.
What are they looking for: Articles of 7,000-8,000 words and/or reviews of 2,000 words
Deadline: 1 December 2019

Can’t wait to read all of your papers!
