So, Sage wished for an adventure to break up the monotony of her life, and now in Modern Fantasy #2 it’s on like Donkey Kong! Sage, Gondra, Lizard Wizard, and Sage’s crush, Darquin the elf, put together a fool-proof plan to rescue Fentax. Lizard Wizard will go in through the front while the rest of the gang sneaks in through the back in case thing go sideways (if you can’t trust a bunch of mobsters, who can you trust?). What could possibly go wrong?
We also get to learn about the history of the amulet and what it is exactly. It definitely has a One Ring kind of vibe: an artifact that has been around for eons, passing from hand to hand as people attempt to use its powers to gain control. It’s been lost for centuries and now turns up three days before the equinox, the time when it unleashes its power to those who dare to wield it. Coincidence? Probably not.
Verdict: Buy it.
Moving the story along nicely, you’ll definitely want to pick up the second issue. We also get to see more of how things are progressing between Gondra and Spenser, and Sage and Darquin.
