A review by Amelia Wellman

PuzzleramaPuzzlerama is a collection of the best puzzles: Flow, Tangram, Pipes, Blocks, Shikaku, Unroll, Unblock, and Bridges all in one game! With 3.000 levels to relax, unwind, and sharpen your logic skills, these zen puzzles have no time limits for less stressful brain building! Puzzlerama has merged all the king puzzles in a collection that will keep your mind active and entertained for hundreds of hours!

Chances are that you already have one or two of the puzzles featured in Puzzlerama downloaded on your phone or tablet. Consolidate it and add some different puzzles while you’re at with Puzzlerama! The puzzles included in Puzzlerama (with more being promised to come later by developer Leo De Sol Games) are:

  • Flow – connect the same colour dots without overlap or leftover space
  • Tangram – a shape based puzzle
  • Pipes – twist pips to make a complete connection
  • Blocks – a Tetris like puzzle
  • Unroll – get a ball from one side of the puzzle to the other
  • Shikaku – a number based game
  • Unblock – a sliding pieces puzzle
  • Bridges – making links
  • ????? – a mystery game unlocked when the player reaches level 50

The ranking system is XP based and happens very naturally as you go through the puzzles. There are also achievements that earn XP when you reach them which goes into your rank. And of the 3,000 levels you have to play? You don’t have to play them in a linear order. Start on easy on level 1 of any of the puzzles or start on hard on level 26, the game doesn’t lock you out at all.

Though it does assume you’ll start at the bottom because it has a very smooth leveling up of difficulty. As you work your way up, there’s never too hard of a jump in difficulty, and, overall, Puzzlerama is never too hard in general. If a puzzle has you stumped, get away from it for a bit, and when you go back, the answer will come to you pretty easily!

Flow is definitely my personal favourite of the puzzles. I could connect the colours all day long. In fact, while I was putting off writing this review, that’s exactly what I did! The animations are smooth, bright, and fun looking, and it’s just really easy to fall into with its just-one-more-puzzle mentality!

Puzzlerama is a free to download and play game that offers in-app purchases. It does have ads that pop-up every five to ten puzzles that are solved and a banner constantly present along the bottom of the screen. The pop-ups are annoying, but the banner ad is hardly noticeable.

The in-app purchases also aren’t just a cheap way to rob you of your hard earned dollars. Since there’s nothing in the way that’s overly frustrating, the hints that you can buy, from $1.29 for 5 up to $38.99 for 250, aren’t something you’ll ever need out of desperation. Should you ever get stuck and decide you want to purchase some hints, any purchase from Puzzlerama’s store will also remove the ads.

The Verdict
Play it! Puzzlerama
is a truly delightful way to spend some time. The puzzles come in short enough bursts that nothing is interrupted if you need to put it down and you’re likely to never become frustrated with them. The variety is great, the difficulty builds at just the right pace, and it’s really bright and vibrant, perfect for falling into.

Puzzlerama is available on Android.

I read, I write, I play videogames, Ghostbusters is my favourite thing in the known universe, but quasars come in at a close second. I've been known to cry at the drop of a hat over happy and sad things alike. I've also been known to fly into a rage if things don't go my way, leading to many a fight in high school and breaking someone's nose on the TTC one time. I'm an anxious introvert but also a loud-mouthed bad influence. Especially on my cat. He learned it from watching me, okay!
