Order of Dracula

One patriot will ally with the Prince of Darkness to free his people, but at what price? Find out how and why in The Order of Dracula, a 30-page one-shot comic, inspired by classic Hammer horror films, from Heresy Studios.

This story is a blending of history–showing the real (albeit fictionalized for their purposes) story of the Irish National Invincibles, a violent Irish nationalist group, and fiction–the story of four English tourists who visit Transylvania and therefore clash with its undead overlord. Not much else can be said without spoiling the story. Order of Dracula

The book is a slightly oversized 30 story pages and in full color (although flashback pages are in shades of gray) and the money raised via Kickstarter is going entirely to the artists.

The creator of The Order of Dracula, Joseph Duis, comments that he’s always been fascinated by characters like Renfield (from the original Dracula book) and Klove (from the Hammer movies). Why would a living, breathing, free-willed human ally with Dracula? Stoker suggested that insanity might play a part, whereas Hammer’s The Scars of Dracula showed Klove being tortured into compliance. These were both unsatisfying because they took any real agency away from the henchmen. Duis wanted to do something different: politics. It does, in fact, make strange bedfellows.

The lowest reward tier is $6 for a copy of The Order of Dracula. There are currently 16 days to go on this Hammer horror inspired comic one-shot! Check it out here!

I read, I write, I play videogames, Ghostbusters is my favourite thing in the known universe, but quasars come in at a close second. I've been known to cry at the drop of a hat over happy and sad things alike. I've also been known to fly into a rage if things don't go my way, leading to many a fight in high school and breaking someone's nose on the TTC one time. I'm an anxious introvert but also a loud-mouthed bad influence. Especially on my cat. He learned it from watching me, okay!
