One of the bigger entertainment projects on Kickstarter at the moment is the funding campaign for Goblins Animated, the web comic (by Tarol Hunt and Danielle Stephens) that hopes to make the transition into an animated series in the coming months.
The synopsis for Goblins itself is this: “GOBLINS is the story of a D and D realm told from the point of view of the little guys, the “monsters,” instead of the adventurers. It’s a heroic tale of a group normally considered evil and weak. Think Smurfs meets Game of Thrones.”
The team is looking for a pretty hefty sum of money totaling at $465,000 – an all or nothing goal that needs to be met by November 22, 2017. There have definitely been bigger goals on Kickstarter that have soared above and beyond that so it’s completely plausible, especially with talent on board like Billy West, Phil LaMarr, Tara Strong and more.

The smaller level tiers make a lot more sense to me – the bigger ones have some cool things but the difference between the $100 and $150 are stickers and a t-shirt which you’re paying $50 for. The $300 tier means you’re paying $150 for the figurine which is the only addition there, and the $450 tier means you’re paying $150 for a print and plushie. So once you get higher than, say, $100, I really feel like you start to lose the overall value of the rewards.
There are a lot of cool things that could’ve been done with the talent on board like custom voicemail messages, meet and greets with the cast and other such things but pretty well everything revolves around material rewards.
If the project is funded, rewards are expected to be delivered in April 2019 – so there’s quite a ways to go to get your goods. It depends on how much patience you have for these things, I suppose, and how big a fan you are of some of these people behind the project. I’m not familiar with the creators of Goblins itself, but as mentioned, Phil LaMarr, Billy West, Tara Strong, Jennifer Hale and the other voice talents are a HUGE draw to this project for me.
