Review by Anelise Farris

Hi-Fi Fight Club #3 continues with the fighting and female-powered fun! In issue #2, Chris struggled to come to terms—quite humorously—with her co-workers’ secret female fight club. However, right from the cover of Hi-Fi Fight Club #3, we see a different, determined Chris, with her hat on backwards and backpack in tow.

Hi-Fi Fight Club #3 drops us right into the action: the band members of Stegosour were caught breaking into the record shop, and the girls are not going easy on them. Chris volunteers to stay at the shop overnight and keep an eye on them. In her attempt at informal small talk, Chris notices something unusual about the bandmates’ responses. This discovery leads her to making a breakthrough in Rosie’s disappearance.

Full of “thirty awkward minutes later” and “several sorta sad hours later” transitions, as well as Chris’s red-faced crushing on Maggie, the humor continues to be delivered full-force. In a manga-like style, the characters are super expressive and the bright colors fill the comic with a youthful energy. So, yes it’s funny and fierce, but there is also a lot of depth to Hi-Fi Fight Club—like we witness here when Chris and Dolores have a heart-to-heart and Irene delivers a rallying speech about fighting injustice.

Verdict:
Buy it!
With Hi-Fi Fight Club #3, the Vinyl Mayhem crew makes a breakthrough in the Rosie Riot case, and Chris begins training with the crew. The creative team behind Hi-Fi Fight Club give readers a compelling, music-driven story that shows that girls can be both smart and tough.
