Funko Friday is no more. My love of Funko is taking a cooling period at the moment and I don’t particularly feel like writing about something I’m not quite passionate about anymore, but I do have tons and tons of Funko Pops that I haven’t opened yet so I will still be writing about them! Today’s Funko is one of my favourites and I’m happy that I finally get to write about her, my favourite junkie in the whole wide world: Sally from American Horror Story.
AHS: Hotel
American Horror Story: Hotel is the fifth season from Ryan Murphy’s hit TV show. Hotel marks the first season where Jessica Lange would not be participating, which upset many fans (I’m still slightly bitter about it). The series cast includes Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Denis O’Hare, Lily Rabe, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett (Queen), Chloe Sevigny, Finn Wittrock, Wes Bentley, Gabourey Sidibe, Mare Winningham, Matt Bomer, John Carroll Lynch and Anthony Ruivivar and introduced newest cast members Lady Gaga, Cheyenne Jackson and Max Greenfield. It was the first season from the anthology series that interconnected with Season 1 and 3.
The plot centres around the eccentric Hotel Cortez in Los Angeles, which catches the attention of homocide detective. The cortez is host to an array of strange and psychotic characters, all spearheaded by the blood sucking fashionista The Countess. The season features two murderous threats in the form of The Ten Commandments killer who selects his victims in accordance with biblical teachings, and ‘The Addiction Demon’ who owns a particular and painful instrument. He was gruesome.
Sally
Sally McKenna is a ghost junkie who has been permanently residing at the Hotel Cortez ever since she was murdered in 1994. She is a character in Hotel portrayed by Sarah Paulson. When she was introduced to modern life and technology by Iris, she renovated her afterlife, becoming a successful blogger.
There are four characters to collect all-together which include Sally, The Countess, Mr March and Holden. Of course many other characters have been made into a Funko from other American Horror Story seasons, however they have not created any new waves based on characters from the last two series. I’m not quite sure as to why that would be but they might do in the future.
Opinion
I love love LOVE my little Sally Funko Pop! I was really excited when I found she would be part of the line-up along with Lady Gaga’s character. They haven’t missed a thing with this Funko; she has the cigarette in her mouth, her roots are showing, her mascara is running down her face. They haven’t skipped on any detail.
The paintwork is fantastic on this little Funko Pop, probably the best I’ve got. She also stands up pretty well on her little stand and she never ever falls. She is one of my favourite Funko Pops from my Funko Pop Girl Gang collection which hopefully I’ll make into a haul post soon!!
