I Am Heath Ledger

From the team behind the I AM documentary series that offers viewers an inside look at the lives of fascinating figures like Steve McQueen, Chris Farley, and Evel Knievel, The Movie Network presents I Am Heath Ledger, a feature-length documentary celebrating the life of the late actor and artist.

Featuring interviews with the Ledger family and a wide variety of actors, directors, musicians, and artistic collaborators, the documentary premieres Monday, May 22 at 7 p.m. ET on The Movie Network, followed by a special presentation of Brokeback Mountain at 9 p.m. ET. The film also joins Crave TV’s unmatched collection of documentaries following its run on The Movie Network.

Covering seminal moments in Ledger’s career, from Monsters Ball, I’m Not There, and The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, to his ground-breaking role in Brokeback Mountain and his iconic portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight, for which he won a posthumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, the documentary focuses on Ledger’s fascination with the camera, with his love for photography motivating his professional goal of ultimately becoming a feature film director.

I Am Heath Ledger features interviews with the Ledger family, childhood friends, and artistic collaborators, actors Naomi Watts, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou and Emile Hirsch, Hollywood directors Ang Lee and Catherine Hardwicke, and musicians Ben Harper, N’fa, and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) for which he created a series of visually arresting music videos.

I read, I write, I play videogames, Ghostbusters is my favourite thing in the known universe, but quasars come in at a close second. I've been known to cry at the drop of a hat over happy and sad things alike. I've also been known to fly into a rage if things don't go my way, leading to many a fight in high school and breaking someone's nose on the TTC one time. I'm an anxious introvert but also a loud-mouthed bad influence. Especially on my cat. He learned it from watching me, okay!
