There’s something important about dystopian tales. They can either be rooted in sheer fiction, or tell a little bit about a future that we might be headed in if we don’t get out sh*t together. The Handmaid’s Tale is one of the of those dystopian fictions that is rooted in fiction, but gives way to a reality that might come true if we truly don’t get out sh*t together.

Hulu is bringing the dystopian novel by Margaret Atwood to life. It’s been premiering some of it’s first photos and a small teaser trailer and we couldn’t be more excited for it. Hulu has also recently announced that the 10-episode series will premiere on April 26th!

A Handmaid's Tale April HuluThe Handmaid’s Tale was released in 1985, but our show set in Gilead (New England) that has been overthrown by the US government. It’s a totalitarian theocracy, meaning that it’s all come down to some religious ideologies as well as government ideas. We follow the life of Offred, played by Elizabeth Moss, she is a Handmaid in the Commander’s household. Handmaids are women who basically serve the state and are forced to have sex with any man who can carry them a child. The goal is to repopulate the world and Handmaid, if fertile, can make that happen. She carries herself in a world where anything that you say can get you killed and the stakes are doubly as high when she has a job to do.

Recently, some amazing pictures have been released and I, personally, can’t wait to see what those show has to over and when we’ll be able to get a full trailer!
