Valentine’s Day is looming, and that means the cartoons will be bringing out their Valentine’s Day special episodes!! Surprisingly, Bobs Burgers have already released their episode, and I couldn’t wait to recap it for you!! I hope you enjoy!!
Plot
After a rough break up on Valentine’s Day, the Belcher women have a limo girls’ night out to make Tina feel better. Meanwhile, Bob and Gene have a trapeze experience that brings them closer.
This is, hands down, one of my favourite episodes from the entire show, especially from season 8!!! I love how they took the whole idea of Valentine in an entirely different route. It was hilarious but still sweet and heartfelt. I also love the whole sisterhood storyline that was going on in the episode.
The way that Bob and Linda dealt with their daughters heartbreak was absolutely perfect! They didn’t get angry or make her think she was being difficult. Instead, Linda leaped into action like the perfect mother she is. It’s the tiny little things like this that sets Bobs Burgers apart from all the other cartoons.
We never get to see the Belcher girls together on their own, so that was refreshing in itself and their dynamic is what you come to expect from the Belcher family. They’re always there to support one another. It was also pleasant to see some character growth in Tina too. Hopefully, she’ll find someone better than Jimmy Junior, a tiny bit of me was hoping the dancer would come back.
We were also introduced to a new character; Nat the Limo Driver. I can’t be the only one hoping she’ll become a regular character right?! She was amazing!! She was insane?! Louise was in her absolute element with her new icon. The whole dynamic between her and Belcher ladies worked perfectly.
Sometimes in cartoons, the side storyline can fall a bit flat against the main plot. However, in this episode, both stories were on top form!! The father/son bond Gene and Bob have was shown in a new interesting way.
Tina explained at the end that you should spend Valentine’s Day with the people who really love you like your mom, sister, a limo driver and a girl from school who you don’t know very well. That, to me, was a perfect, heartfelt message and it made my single ass feel soooo much better!!
Verdict: Watch It! Like everyone else, I think they released the Valentine’s episode a bit too early. However, I’m not complaining since we got a brand new episode of Bobs Burgers and now I’m looking forward to seeing what the other animations have in store for us!!
