Come reader and discover the story found in the pages of Psi-Lords #1. Four people wake up in a prison with no memory of how they got there. A voice whispers in their heads telling them they are gods and that it will help them escape their prisons. As they make their prison break, they discover they have incredible powers and can do anything they can imagine. But without the voice to guide them further, they have to discover what happened to each of them. To do that, they must find the Psi-Lords.

Fred Van Lente has given us the introductions in Psi-Lords; who the main players are and the mystery surrounding their pasts. We don’t know anything else, like who imprisoned them and how they got these abilities, but this book promises to give us answers. Van Lente has crafted a fantastic mystery which will take these four protagonists across the heavens searching for their identities, histories, and the people responsible.

Renato Guedes’s  art is perfect for a cosmic mystery full of action. It’s otherworldly and full of intense visuals. Some of the abilities the characters exhibit remind me of the power ring constructs from the Green Lantern series. Sometimes it isn’t always clear what Guedes is showing in his art, and it requires a few rereads to understand what is happening on the page. However, Guedes makes up for it with vibrant colors that shine whenever our protagonists use their abilities.

Besides being a compelling mystery set in the far cosmos with incredible artwork, Psi-Lords #1 is a great place for new readers to become acquainted with Valiant. No prior experience necessary — just a desire for good, compelling storytelling and art.

Psi-Lords #1 will be available in your local comic shops June 19, 2019.

Basically a hobbit, Josh is always enjoying food and drink, and going on unexpected adventures. Beware if you see him without a cup of coffee: caffeination deprivation makes this boy go loco.
