If you need a break from super-heroics and semi-annual relaunches, why not try something new? Fans of epic fantasy, far-away lands, and relatable characters will do well to give the new webcomic MARA a shot. Written by newcomer Dylan Goss, with extraordinary art by Rosi Woo, MARA follows the adventures of our title character, an eight-year-old girl burdened by incredible power, who embarks on a journey that takes her from the small fishing village she calls home to the “far reaches of the world.” As she traverses a harsh landscape with her guardian spirit Amaruq, Mara must learn to control her new gifts while encountering friend and foe alike, each step of her journey bringing her closer to the woman she’s destined to become.

Beginning April 8, 2021, the debut comic from Stuffed Rock Studios will be available at no cost through mara-comic.com, with new chapters added weekly. It will be available simultaneously in English, Spanish, and Chinese, with translations by Gregory Thorpe Badrena. However, if you can’t wait to experience this world of magic and monsters, or you would simply like the opportunity to support the creative team, the early pages will be released through the book’s Patreon. As with most Patreons, there are different tiers you can choose. Not only do you have the opportunity to show your support but you can also be rewarded with exclusive content and the ability to chat with the creators.

From the press release: Follow the titular character, Mara, a young girl from a small fishing village, as she tries to manage the power of an ancestral spirit she wasn’t prepared to receive. As she ventures from the broken tatters of her own small tribe into the larger world on a quest for revenge, she learns how much bigger the world is than herself, and how deeply entrenched her enemy really is.
