Tattoo Tuesday: SCOTT PILGRIM Ink
by Anelise Farris
It’s tattoo Tuesday, so I’m here to fuel your geek-ink addiction! I can’t count the number of times I’ve read the Scott Pilgrim series, and for our wedding anniversary this last week, my husband I watched the film (and not for the first time!). So, here are ten of my favorite pieces inspired by Scott Pilgrim, because they deserve more than just a spot on my Pinterest board.
Wrap-Around
I absolutely love the simplicity yet movement of the tattoo on the left. And the one on the right is bright, bold, and very reminiscent of the wild ride that is Scott Pilgrim. And all the varying panels keep it clean rather than cluttered.
Artsy
I am seriously considering doing the foot tattoos that we see here. They are so daggum cool, and I love that it looks like someone just sharpied it. And the image on the right is one of my favorite in the series. It has definitely been my phone background more than one, and I like that they refrain from color here.
Neo-Traditional
Neo-traditional definitely works for the western manga-style of the series. Not a lot of Scott Pilgrim tattoos have lettering, but this line is so iconic, and it’s executed super well here. And I love the solid black (with the exception of the hair) of the tattoo on the right. It is gorgeous.
Iconic
Both of these tattoos beautifully capture the aesthetic that is Scott Pilgrim. There is something about the tattoo on the left that is simple yet sophisticated. And how cute are the 8-bit Scott and Ramona on the right? PRECIOUS.
Simple
Bold yet subtle, and 100% adorable. What I love about both of these tattoos is that they are so customizable and could fit anywhere: back of neck, behind the ear, ankle, etc — they’d also be great filler pieces.
